I've been in consulting / outsourcing for about 10+ years now, so I've done and managed dozens of AWS projects of all sizes and for a wide variety of industries. Today I work in Geniusee as CTO supervising the development process of more than 25 projects on AWS, as well as a team of 5 DevOps. In my practice I use more than 50 AWS services in areas such as Data Migration and Transfer, Machine Learning, Security and Compliance, Serverless Technologies, Management and Administration, Computing and others. Therefore, I decided that it was time to get certification for members of our DevOps team and partnership with ABC for our company.

Research and consulting firm Gartner Group, Inc. predicts that cloud infrastructure spending will grow by nearly 60% over the next two years, while investment in data center systems will decline. Process

The amazon partnership consists of several sections.

Step #1 - AWS Accredited Individuals.

Here you need to accredit 4 people, 2 of whom must obtain Technical Accreditation, and the other 2 - Business Accreditation. In order to obtain this accreditation, it is enough to listen to AWS courses and then answer about 30 questions. The advantage is that you have the opportunity to pass exams as much as you need.

Step #2 - AWS Foundational Certified Individuals.

To pass this section you need to certify 2 people. There are more serious requirements for these people. They must take an AWS training course, have at least six months of experience with AWS Cloud, and visit a certification center in order to pass this certification. It costs $100. You can also take it online, but we had decided not to risk the Internet connection, went to the physical center and got certified there.

Step #3 - AWS Technical Certified Individuals.

At this stage you need to certify 2 people. Two architects - Anton and Sasha from the Geniusee team decided to be certified. Certification costs $150 per person.

Step #4 - Launched Opportunities.

Here you need to select several clients, fill in information about them and submit it for consideration to the AWS center. If with the previous steps everything is easy and clear, then here I recommend to start dealing with this issue from the very beginning, because this part of getting a partnership is quite long. It took us about a month. Another tip is to fill in as much detail as possible about each customer, fill in all the non-required fields as well, because if you don't fill in something, they will still return you and ask you to fill in all the information. You should also pay attention to the Monthly Recurring Revenue Minimum. This is the amount that the selected customers spend on AWS services on their projects. This figure must be at least $1,500 from the customers you add to the list.

Register for Certification

Recently, Amazon has made a single entry point for all training and certification issues - the AWS Training and Certification Portal. There you can register and carry out all operations with certification: schedule an exam, pay with a credit card online, receive a pdf with a certificate and a link to validation, view a detailed history of exams, request special services for people with disabilities.

In Ukraine, there are partner certification centers in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv. To access the exam, you need to take 2 identity documents: for example, a personalized credit card is suitable as a secondary document. You cannot take anything with you for the exam itself, everything you need will be provided on the spot.

How many points do you need to score?

How many correct answers need to be typed in order to successfully pass the exam, they don't write anywhere. They say that only 65%, but this is not the case. The result depends on how other people pass, and the passing percentage always floats. After the exam, you will immediately find out “passed / failed” and receive details of your progress by email, broken down by topic. The certificate itself and all relevant entries in the portal will appear after a few business days.
