Levels Health — a mobile app for tracking metabolic health
The global rise in chronic diseases like diabetes has fueled the demand for personalized health management tools. Levels Health, an A16z-backed startup, identified a gap in the market for a user-centric app that leverages CGM data to empower individuals to optimize their metabolic health. Levels partnered with Geniusee to create a mobile app that would be their core user engagement platform.
Business context
The healthcare landscape is undergoing a significant shift towards preventative and personalized medicine. Levels Health envisioned a user-centric mobile app that uses continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data to empower individuals to proactively optimize their metabolic health.

Process
The process started with detailed UI/UX design by Geniusee, covering research, wireframes, and prototypes in line with Mysterium's brand. Next, Android development in Kotlin involved close teamwork between frontend and backend, focusing on regular communication and testing for ongoing improvement. Quality assurance guaranteed a strong mobile app, with thorough testing for functionality, usability, performance, and security, and effective communication for issue resolution.

We employed an agile project management methodology to keep Levels Health updated and involved at every stage. Our project managers organized biweekly sprint planning meetings and daily standup meetings to keep everyone accountable, address any blockers, and keep work moving forward.

Our designers focused on creating a simple yet engaging interface. We used a minimalistic color palette with bright accent colors to highlight important information. The layout is clean and consistent across all screens.

Using React Native allowed us to develop the app once and release it for both iOS and Android. To handle the volume of data, we implemented GraphQL, a query language for APIs, to efficiently request and process exactly the data needed for each view. The end result is an intuitive app providing users an easy way to gain visibility into what’s really going on in their body and make meaningful changes to feel their best.
